The Redwood Group, a Channel Islands’ compliance, company secretarial and governance consultancy, is celebrating the achievements of senior team member, Tom Cluett, who has gained a Merit in his MSc of Corporate Governance.
Mr Cluett, who joined the firm in 2018 as Managing Director of Redwood Co Sec Limited, has added his Masters degree to an already impressive list of professional qualifications, which includes an International Diploma in Financial Administration from the Institute of Administrative Management, a Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration from The Chartered Governance Institute, formerly ICSA, and a Certificate in Leadership and Management with the Institute of Leadership and Management.
James Wood, CEO of the Redwood Group said: “We place great importance on supporting our team to build upon their existing knowledge of the industry and appreciate the value of undertaking these higher qualifications. Tom’s expertise in corporate governance is invaluable to our clients who need to ensure their company secretarial function has the appropriate qualifications, capability and relevant experience to meet increasingly complex demands of international regulation.
“The difficulty of the Corporate Governance Masters course should not be overlooked. This is a brilliant achievement and we are extremely proud of Tom for his hard work.”
The course which is run by Bournemouth University and delivered locally by GTA University Centre is two and a half years long and includes a final year dissertation designed to challenge students to develop an in depth understanding of the industry through a research question of their choice. Mr Cluett undertook an extensive literature review and held interviews with Guernsey-based Directors, researching how the composition of Board members effects the dynamic in the boardroom, and whether this dynamic impacts upon a Board’s decision-making.
Mr Cluett is a strong advocate for the course and featured on the GTA University Centre Facebook page giving a testimonial about his positive experience.
“I am very thankful to the GTA and Redwood who have both been so supportive of me throughout my studies. With regulation and reporting requirements on the increase, demand for corporate governance expertise is at an all-time high. The course has pushed me to a greater level of understanding and given me invaluable confidence as a governance practitioner,” said Mr Cluett.
