New Newcastle to Guernsey service announced

Tuesday 10 September 2019

Loganair has announced that it will introduce a direct, non-stop service from Newcastle to Guernsey for the 2020 summer season.

Starting on 23 May 2020 and running once a week on Saturdays until 5 September, the summer service will be operated on a 37-seater Embraer 135 aircraft. It will be the first time the Guernsey will be connected to the northern city by a direct air route.

The service will depart Newcastle at 09:00 every Saturday, arriving into Guernsey at 10:30. A return flight will leave at 16:30, arriving into Newcastle at 17:30.

The one-way lead in fare is £74.99 including taxes and a hold bag of up to 20kg.  The Newcastle route is the fourth direct air route to Guernsey launched by Loganair, which operated a direct summer service from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bournemouth in summer 2019.

Loganair’s Managing Director, Jonathan Hinkles, said: “Since launching our first route to Guernsey from Glasgow in summer 2018, we have seen growing demand for the destination. We’re now delighted to launch the first direct, non-stop route from another northern departure point.”

VisitGuernsey’s Director of Marketing and Tourism, Mike Hopkins, says “As part of VisitGuernsey’s ongoing efforts, we’re working hard with airline and airport partners to develop new routes to the island to make Guernsey more accessible to a wider pool of prospective visitors, and this new Newcastle service, operated by Logan air, now gives the important north east England visitor market  a more direct and convenient way of travelling to Guernsey."

Deputy Joe Mooney – member of the Committee for Economic Development added; “The Committee is committed to working with regional airlines such as Loganair to achieve our aim of continually strengthening Guernsey’s air links to the UK, and we would like to than Jonathan Hinkle’s and the Loganair team for their ongoing support and confidence in Guernsey."
