Alderney has a new Harbour Master who steps up from his current role.
Alderney born and educated on the island and in Guernsey, Adam Rose has worked at the harbour since 2005 and brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of its operations.
Recently he has fulfilled the role of Duty Harbour Master and has worked with Nigel Shaw to cover the vacant Harbour Master position following the resignation of John Taylor.
"It’s my aim to provide a robust and efficient service which will continue to serve the Island in a safe and reliable manner," said Mr Rose.
Boyd Kelly, Chairman of the General Services Committee, added: “Adam and Nigel have worked tirelessly during the six months in which we have been without a Harbour Master and they are to be congratulated on doing a great job along with the whole dockside team.
“They have overseen a most welcome return to form for the harbour following the difficulties thrown up by the pandemic and have worked long hours with commendable enthusiasm to make 2022 a record-breaking season for visiting vessels.
"The appointment process was carried out with the assistance of Captain David Barker, the Guernsey Harbour Master, and I am grateful for his support and advice."
The vacancy created by Mr Rose’s promotion will be filled early in 2023.
