New Director for Altair

Friday 17 May 2019

Channel Islands independent director services business Altair has confirmed that Matt Wood has joined their growing team in Guernsey.

He will take on a role driving forward Altair’s growth strategy in the Channel Islands as it looks to support the governance and oversight needs of its clients across Guernsey and Jersey.

With more than 20 years of financial services experience, particularly in the fund administration sector, Guernsey-based Mr Wood joins Altair from Sanne where he was a Private Equity Director and Guernsey Country Head. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of State Street’s Alternative Investment Solutions.

He originally trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC, specialising in banks and investment funds. He serves on the boards of managers of alternative investment funds across diverse strategies, including Buy Out, Debt, Healthcare, Venture Capital, Clean Energy and Real-Estate.

Mr Wood also chairs the Marketing Committee of the Guernsey Investment & Funds Association, is a member of the IoD and holds the IoD Diploma in Company Direction.

Commenting on his appointment, Andreas Tautscher, CEO, Altair, said: “We’re continuing to see a rising demand for high quality, professional, regulated director services across the islands, from listed companies and banks to funds and government bodies. With his broad, high level experience in the Channel Islands, Matt will undoubtedly add enormous value to Altair and play a vital role in building awareness around our proposition.”

Mr Wood added; “Altair already works with an impressive number of institutional and entrepreneurial clients, and there’s no doubt that more and more firms are recognising the importance of good governance and board effectiveness. I’m excited to join such an experienced and knowledgeable team of leaders who can help businesses in the islands meet their obligations and give them a solid platform for future success.”
