New business awards scheme launched

Wednesday 03 July 2019

Guernsey's businesses will be rewarded in various areas with the introduction of a new awards scheme focused on the positives in our economy.

The Guernsey Event Company has launched the Island Enterprise Awards, which will be handed out in February each year, starting in 2020.

A gala event to be held at the Duke of Richmond Hotel on Thursday 6 February will see accolades presented for:

  • Innovation and Enterprise - sponsored by BWCI
  • Business Community Spirit - sponsored by Butterfield
  • Young Business Achiever of the Year - sponsored by HSBC
  • Director of the Year - sponsored by the Institute of Directors (Guernsey)
  • Small Business of the Year - sponsored by Grant Thornton
  • Business of the Year - sponsored by Specsavers

A panel of judges will decide the winner in each category with those awards then handed out as part of a 'celebration evening'.

Organiser Alex Bridle, Founder and Director of The Guernsey Event Company Ltd, said the awards will celebrate the best things about business in the island, while also reflecting the fast pace changes industry is facing.

"We all know that the world in the 21st century is an increasingly digital, an increasingly global one. Testimony to the incredible pace of change within the business world, how we project our corporate images, recruit and retain staff whilst driving growth and profitability is that the first iPhone was released just some 12.5 cars ago in January 2007. Businesses and individuals in business need to be leaders, swift to respond, diligent in their corporate governance and have the boldness, and flexibility to adapt and change."
