Specialist physiotherapist Jim Marshall has joined the Medical Specialist Group to develop a sports and exercise medicine centre of excellence, working closely with the group’s four orthopaedic consultants.

Mr Marshall (pictured above) joins as advanced specialist physiotherapist from First Contact Health, where he was clinical director, and brings 30-years experience in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, working to develop diagnostics and treatment for the most at a senior level in the UK military and professional football.

He will offer a rapid advanced triaging and diagnostic service for people with sports injury or with other acute or long-term joint, bone, and muscle problems.

He was also the lead physiotherapist for the Guernsey’s Commonwealth Games team in Birmingham last month and led the medical team for the previous Australia Games in 2018.

Mr Marshall noted his extensive experiencing working in physiotherapy in the UK: “This has made me passionate about helping people with orthopaedic and sports injuries, developing treatment plans based on their individual needs”.

Orthopaedic consultant Chris Joslin added: Jim has an excellent reputation on the island among patients, the sports community and GPs due to his expertise in sports and exercise and musculoskeletal medicine. We are very much looking forward to working with him as we develop the service together over the next 12 months to become a true centre of excellence for Guernsey”.
