Mourant associate achieves STEP Worldwide Excellence Award

Tuesday 20 November 2018

Sophie Denman, Associate in Mourant's International Trusts and Private Client (ITPC) team, has been awarded the STEP Worldwide Excellence Award for her Advanced Certificate in Company Law & Practice.

The Award is administered twice yearly and recognises the top scoring student at distinction level in each of their STEP exams globally. She has completed two of four exams for the STEP Diploma, one of the foremost recognised qualifications in the trust and private client industry and demonstrates a practitioner's level of expertise in this area.

Ms Denman said: "I'm extremely proud to have achieved global recognition for this exam. The knowledge I have gained and will continue to gain from my studies will allow me to become a trusted advisor to clients as part of the wider Mourant ITPC teams. I'm very grateful to Mourant for its support and look forward to completing my STEP Diploma and becoming fully qualified in the next year."

The STEP diploma focuses on the study of the law and procedures in trust and estate administration, tax and accounting. The diploma provides both an academic and professional qualification and allows practitioners to develop an appreciation of the issues that arise in trust and estate planning and gives practical knowledge of the law and procedures involved.

Mourant Ozannes Guernsey Partner, Matthew Guthrie, said: "We are very proud of Sophie's achievement receiving the highest score globally for her Company Law & Practice exam. It is a clear demonstration of her academic skills and commitment to her field of work. Mourant is committed to the professional growth of all our people, helping them to excel and to reach their full potential. We wish Sophie the best of luck in her final exams."
