The Institute of Directors Guernsey branch has announced its panel for its Mid-Term event which will focus on artificial intelligence and its implications for boards and businesses in 2023.

Pat Cunningham, Director & Founder of Indulge; Meriel Lenfestey, a Non-Executive Director; and Emma Martins, Data Protection Commissioner at the Data Protection Authority, have all been invited to discuss the implications, as 2023 is predicted as the year AI will go mainstream.

Taking place on Thursday 23 March at the St Pierre Park Hotel, the event will also welcome Dr Alex Connock as the keynote speaker. Dr Connock is the author of the 2022 Routledge textbook 'Media Management and Artificial Intelligence'.

Wendy Dorey, Chair of the IoD Guernsey branch, said: "AI offers many fantastic opportunities for Guernsey businesses, but also presents a number of risks – directors must be able to navigate through both.

"With AI capabilities predicted to more than double over the next three years, leaders need to develop their skills in this area, with a strong focus on robust governance, clear policies on data, and a strong moral and ethical compass. I’m excited to hear our keynote speakers, and panellists, views on how to achieve this.
