Lucid expands into commercial mediation

Monday 16 September 2019

Guernsey-based learning and change consultancy, Lucid, has announced its expansion into mediation services.

The company, led by Owner and Founder Emma Mauger, offers coaching, mediation, training and facilitation.

Ms Mauger qualified as a Mediator through the London School of Mediation in June 2019, adding this skill to Lucid's offering alongside executive and team coaching, group facilitation, personal skills development and consulting.

She is the Channel Islands' only certified facilitator of the learning model TetraMap and has a background in sales and marketing, including seven years as a Commercial Director at an offshore law firm.

Ms Mauger began coaching back in 2015 and holds a Master's Certificate in Executive Coaching from the University of the West of England, as well as a Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching from the Institute of Leadership and Management.

"Not all disputes have to be resolved in a court environment," she said. "The industry is increasingly appreciating the benefits of commercial mediation for many reasons - indeed, the number of cases grew by 20% last year.

"Mediation brings parties together voluntarily to progress through conflicting views by identifying their desired outcomes and finding consensus. As mediators, we facilitate the discussion and process of reaching an agreement in an entirely neutral capacity, so we don't advise or influence the outcome.

"Unhealthy conflict impacts people in different ways. Mediation offers opportunities to own the decision-making process and progress beyond the conflict."

Ms Mauger works with clients based around the world and is keen to share her skills with Channel Islands organisations.

"Often this is a skill that companies seek out from the UK, so by bringing this expertise home to the Channel Islands I'm hopeful it will widen options for businesses and individuals in this respect," she added.
