Local STEP member submits joint top-five paper worldwide

An assignment completed by an employee at Trust Corporation International has been judged as one of the joint top five worldwide.

Emma Hill, a trust officer at the Guernsey-based independent trust company, undertook the Advanced Certificate in Trust Disputes with the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and achieved a distinction for her efforts.

Mrs Hill’s paper, a 3,500 word case study on contentious trust issues, was graded as joint fifth in the world, and her achievement was recognised at the STEP Guernsey conference earlier this year.

The course is run by STEP and designed to give candidates the expertise needed to anticipate, and consequently avoid, the common pitfalls that can lead to trust litigation. It is delivered online and takes four months to complete using STEP’s online learning platform and the completion of an assignment.

Anthony Tennant, director at Trust Corporation International, said: “We are very proud of Emma’s achievement and would like to congratulate her on her hard work on the course, which has clearly paid off.

"We encourage all our employees to undertake professional training to increase their expertise and further their development and Emma is a shining example to her colleagues. Trust Corporation has always prided itself on having highly trained and qualified staff who have both, strong academic and theoretical backgrounds. Emma’s achievement means that she will be able to continue to apply her knowledge as part of her day-to-day client services role.”

STEP is the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations.
