Support for Liberation Group tenants

Monday 20 April 2020

The Liberation Group, which is involved in running a number of Guernsey's pubs and restaurants, has put together a tenant support package, to help the local industry survive through the corona virus pandemic.

The group will not be collecting rent while the businesses are forced to close and 50% of their headline rent will be cancelled.

A further series of measures will be available for individuals and could include a long term deferral of the outstanding rent, subject to conditions.

"Our industry has been heavily impacted by this enforced closure," said MD of Tenanted Pubs for the Liberation Group, Christine Oxford. "Our top priority is the wellbeing of our tenants and subsequently their team members and customers.

"I'm confident that the support we're offering today will help protect them during this challenging time.

"In terms of our tenanted business and our relationship with them, our absolute priority is to ensure our tenants not only survive this period of closure but that they come through this in a strong position to continue trade with us in the future. With this in mind, we have agreed a significant package of support with the Liberation Group board."

The support is being offered in addition to that of the States.

"This proposed support package demonstrates our commitment to our tenants and the excellent business they run," Ms Oxford continued. "Rest assured, we're doing everything we can to protect them and to ensure that, once this is all over, they're in the best possible position to run pubs we can all be proud of."
