Last day to submit Brexit Business Survey

Monday 24 September 2018

Today is the final day people have to submit a response to the States of Guernsey's business survey on Brexit, which closes at midnight.

The survey has already seen significant engagement with local businesses.

Through close work with Policy & Resources and Economic Development, the study aims to assess the potential impact of business on the island. It was carried out by BMG Research, the commissioned researcher.

They have been contacting firms in Guernsey, Alderney, and Sark, on behalf of the States, to obtain information about trading and employment practices, and to gather their views on the opportunities and challenges of Brexit.

As the target response rate has now been reached and exceeded, the telephone survey has now closed. However, businesses will continue to have the opportunity to complete the survey online, via the link available at gov.gg/brexitsurvey.

The findings will be used by the States to inform its extensive, ongoing work to plan for the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union. The research will also help the States to prepare for the future economic framework between the UK and the EU, and any opportunities which may arise for the Bailiwick, including preparations for the Bailiwick to join the World Trade Organisation under the UK’s membership.

To help ensure the findings are as representative as possible, all businesses in the Bailiwick have been encouraged to take part and several hundred have already completed the survey.

BMG Research will report on the findings of the survey and present that report to the Committee for Economic Development.
