New Guernsey rum company The Juggling King has appointed David Hitchcock OBE to its board.

Founded by local businessman Jack Gervaise-Brazier, the company aims to create the first rum to be distilled in Guernsey in recent history.

Mr Hitchcock has a background in the financial services industry and engineering, and will sit as Director on the board.

His career path began in the British Army where he worked his way up through the ranks to Captain in the 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles. He then began his financial career, working for Goldman Sachs, Grant Thornton and JP Morgan where he was Managing Director.

Most recently, Mr Hitchcock was appointed as a Trustee of the Gurkha Welfare Trust and has been director of several industrial companies and charities.

"Jack's vision and enthusiasm were extremely attractive alongside a tremendous business opportunity both locally and internationally," he commented. "I am delighted and excited to be involved."

Mr Gervaise-Brazier added: "It is fantastic to welcome a Director of such high calibre to our board. David's appointment is consistent with my vision of the business to build with the future in mind from the start. He is a huge asset to the business as we initiate phased growth and international expansion from our humble yet historic local roots."
