IoD seeks feedback on recruitment and upskilling priorities

Monday 15 February 2021

The IoD Guernsey Skills sub-committee has launched a survey to seek business leaders’ current priorities for skills development and recruitment.

The survey asks questions in relation to previous recruitment success and candidates’ skillsets. These include basic soft and specialist skills, relevant experience and candidate expectations.

It then asks about ways in which businesses expect their needs to change and the challenges they foresee in upskilling and recruitment.

Meriel Lenfestey, Chair of the IoD Skills sub-committee, said: “Our business leaders need to be highly competent and constantly developing. They rely on finding and keeping employees with the technical expertise and soft skills they need today, and for the future.

“The aim of this survey is to gather data so we can forecast which business skills are important priorities for the future, and ways in which they can be delivered through training, education and licenses. This will enable the IoD to focus its activities to support the island’s skills infrastructure and policymakers."

The sub-committee is focused on supporting the development of a sustainable working population with the right expertise and competence to help drive long-term economic success, through education and immigration.
