An annual bursary scheme developed by Insurance Corporation, specifically to support initiatives within Health and Social Care, celebrated its 30th anniversary with donations to two projects.
The bursaries allow HSC staff to “bring their ideas to life” and were presented at an event earlier this week. Due to covid concerns the presentation was scaled back, with all attendees required to wear masks throughout.
The top prize was won by paramedic Kelly Marquis, who proposed a ‘Cake and Consultation’ programme. The initiative would proactively reach out to elderly people, highlighting frailty before an emergency response is required.
She was given £2,500 towards the project.
Rachel Le Prevost and Annabel Nicholas received the runner up award of £1,000 to go towards their Bailiwick Maternity App. This would provide expectant mothers with up-to-date information, as opposed to it being available through leaflets as it currently is.
“The Insurance Corporation Bursary Scheme which has operated since 1991 makes a real difference to our staff and the work they deliver for our community across health and social care,” said Director of Operations at HSC, Matt Jones.
“The award drives innovation and directly supports our commitment to continually challenge and transform our services. The greatest challenge we have is choosing a winner from the many quality applications we receive each year. All applicants have fully embraced the ethos of the Partnership of Purpose and I would like to thank both our staff and friends at the Insurance Corporation for their engagement and support of this important initiative.”
