The Director of People Like Us - a new recruitment firm in Guernsey - has offered some insight into the island’s recruitment market.
“It’s a tough market for employers,” said Christine Bangor-Jones, who argues that companies need to do more to hire and retain staff.
“Covid has opened the eyes of employees: post-covid, employers are offering more flexible working arrangements for staff as they see the value for employee engagement and retention.
“Several employers [also] have in-house gyms for example.”

Ms Bangor-Jones said it’s a good time to move “as there are some really interesting opportunities out there”.
“Fund and trust administration are naturally in demand, as organisations grow due to acquisitions and new business take-on,” she said.
People should also be aware that employers are also looking for new skillsets now.
“There are requirements now for more technical skills not widely in demand in the past: IT skills and proficiency in programs such as Tableau, Python, SQL and Advanced Excel.”
Ms Bangor-Jones said candidates need to think about what they want next for their career: “Your commitment to looking for a new role could open so many new doors”.
