Guernsey Electricity has donated three electric boilers to Guernsey College of Further Education plumbing department.

The boilers will be used in the training facility for both plumbing and electrical apprentices and ensure that the students are working with the most up-to-date equipment that is currently being installed into new-build properties.

Vince Smith, Head of Energy Solutions for Guernsey Electricity said: "It was great to have the opportunity to support the college. This is where I and many of Guernsey Electricity's staff began our own working life with a lot of help from the college. This is the ideal way to promote what we see as a greener future as well as seeing that the youngsters of Guernsey get the right training for their own futures."

Steve Repton, Course Leader for the plumbing department at the college commented: "This gives our students a great opportunity to see a variety of boiler types in action. Over the next five to 10 years, this type of boiler will become more and more prevalent and it's important that we keep ahead of the game for our students."

Faculty Director Chris Torode added: "We are extremely grateful to Guernsey Electricity for its generosity in donating this equipment. We have an excellent collaborative working relationship with the Guernsey Electricity team and appreciate the support they continue to give us."
