Guernsey Airport pledges support for Flybe

Friday 19 October 2018

Following Flybe's profit warning, Guernsey Airport's manager has said local staff will work with the regional airline to ensure the island stays on its network.

Flybe's stock value fell by 40% this week after the airline said its annual losses for 2018/19 are likely to hit £22million.

Its closing share price on Wednesday was just 19p.

Colin Le Ray, General Manager of Guernsey Ports said the airline was and continues to be an important service provider for local passengers and visitors.

"Flybe has been a valued carrier at Guernsey Airport for many years and is serving the islands with a number of important routes to the UK all year round, and to Germany in the summer season.

"The airline has seen double digit growth in recent years in terms of passenger traffic out of Guernsey.

"We are certain the management at Flybe is working hard at improving the airline's performance, and we will continue to work with them to try to ensure that the Channel Islands remain an important part of their route network."
