Galaxy Computers receive the Keep Guernsey Green Award

Tuesday 30 January 2018

Galaxy Computer Brokers Ltd has been successful in achieving the Keep Guernsey Green Award once more.

The award recognises organisations that help Guernsey maintain a healthy and clean environment, by operating to best practice in waste management and energy conservation.

Galaxy Computer Brokers has held the award since 2012 and has now revalidated since moving to new premises at Bulwer House.

To achieve the award again, Galaxy Computer Brokers had to meet a set of high standards to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its impact on the environment.

Stuart Moseley, Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the Keep Guernsey Green Revalidation certificate, as tackling environmental issues within the technology industry is an important part of our company philosophy.

"Since achieving the Award in 2012, we have been working hard to develop the WEEE recycling and recovery services we offer our customers; but we are also committed to running the internal business operations in an environmentally friendly manner. The revalidation process has helped us optimise our in-house processes; so we can continue to reduce our impact on the local environment.”

Keith Tapscott, Independent Assessor for the award, said: “Core green values lie at the heart of this organisation, reflecting Galaxy’s commitment to looking after the Island’s environment, abiding by the mantra, ‘Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle’, and focussing on sustainable supply chains.”

Each organisation, which applies for the award, is subject to an assessment which monitors the current actions and future commitments taken by the company to reduce waste, increase recycling and improve energy conservation. An assessor is assigned to each organisation and provides guidance and support throughout the process.

The award is open to any size and type of organisation in Guernsey and is valid for three years after which it can be revalidated on a triennial basis. Further information is available on gov.gg.
