Finance sector warned of impending new cyber security guidelines

Thursday 10 June 2021

On 9 August the Guernsey Financial Services Commission’s new cyber security principles come into force, and industry experts are warning senior leadership of the change.

Boards and senior finance leadership teams are being reminded by Black Arrow Cyber Consulting that their firm is most likely not currently compliant.

The GFSC will be insisting board members play an active management role in protecting firms against phishing sites.

“We know from our work with clients in Guernsey that many Boards are relying on the word of their IT provider,” said Director of Black Arrow Cyber Consulting, Tony Cleal.

“While that approach can provide short term confidence, it could lead to serious issues later if the GFSC investigates a cyber incident in their business.”
