Electric vehicle enthusiast determined to drive the length of Britain

Electric vehicle fanatic Adam Dadeby will share his experience of driving a Nissan Leaf from Devon to the north of Shetland at an event organised by the Channel Island Group of Professional Engineers in Guernsey this evening.

Mr Dadeby will also consider the wider move to electric transport, including cars, buses, ferries, trucks, vans and planes, and the role it can play in helping make fossil fuels an energy source of the past.

Sally-Ann David, chief operating officer at Guernsey Electricity, sponsors of the event, said; "Many islanders have an interest in electric vehicles, but making the switch from fuel to electric can be a daunting decision. Adam’s experience of driving the length of the British Isles will showcase the capability of electric vehicles, and he will also shine a light on the realities of using such a vehicle on a day-to-day basis."

"Given its geography, Guernsey is the ideal place for electric vehicles, so I’m sure that Adam’s experiences will give people the confidence to seriously consider whether an electric vehicle could work for them. I hope that islanders wanting to learn more about the development and capabilities of electric vehicles will sign up to join us at this free event," said Mrs David.

The event, which is free to attend and open to all, takes place at Les Cotils on Wednesday 18 July at 19:30.
