Nearly half of employers asked to complete a 2023 Economic Activity Return have yet to do so, with the deadline nearing at the end of the month.
During March, the States of Guernsey's Data and Analysis team sent notifications to more than 500 employers in Alderney and Guernsey by post, to inform them that they had been selected to complete one.
So far, more than 250 returns have been received.
Letters have recently been issued to those that have not yet submitted a return, to provide a reminder that the return deadline is 31 July 2023.
There is a legal requirement for selected employers to complete the return by the deadline, but if anyone needs support, the team will help however they can.
Helen Walton, Head of the Data and Analysis Service, said larger Guernsey employers are required to complete a return every year and a (different) sample of smaller Guernsey employers are also required to complete the return each year. All Alderney employers are required to complete a return each year.
"Thank you to the many employers who have already completed returns and answered follow-up questions we’ve asked," said Ms Walton. "The team are checking returns over as they arrive and try to follow up with any queries within a few days, so the figures can be finalised as promptly as possible. It seems that about half of the returns will arrive in the last few weeks before the deadline and we’re looking forward to being able improve the accuracy of Guernsey and Alderney economic statistics, once these have all been received and checked.
“You can go to gov.gg/economicactivityreturn, where you will find background, detailed guidance notes and PDF, excel and online versions of the return. If you are having trouble with the return or would like further assistance or information please do not hesitate to contact the team via dataandanalysis@gov.gg."
