Crown Dependencies gain ICAEW seat

Friday 07 October 2022

The Institute of Accountants England and Wales have approved the formation of a council seat for the Crown Dependencies.

This means two new Communities for the Crown Dependencies of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man respectively will be formed, with a single electoral Council constituency established to represent them.

ICAEW members in the Channel Islands have previously been represented by a London council member and the ICAEW have said: “We hope you will agree that this change is a positive step forward and we are sure that the members based on the islands will experience closer relations with ICAEW as a result of this.”

Catherine Watson, Chair of the Training and Marketing JSCCA Sub Committee (pictured) says: “We are delighted to announce for the first time in history, ICAEW will be holding Council elections for the newly-created constituency of the Crown Dependencies, comprising the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, which will see a member taking a seat on ICAEW Council.

"This has required a change in the constitution but one we are proud that has been approved and ensuring that as the crown dependencies we have representation.”
