Sarnia Mutual promises lots of laughs with Comedy Festival

Monday 05 February 2018

Guernsey's annual comedy festival is being split into three shorter events over the course of the year thanks to a fresh funding deal.

A new partnership with Sarnia Mutual means the organisers are able to bring over more comedic talent, with shows already planned throughout 2018.

Andy Fothergill and Nick Creed founded the Guernsey Comedy Festival in 2007. Mr Creed says: "We are looking forward to working with Sarnia Mutual to deliver some fantastic new shows.

"Cramming so many events into a week-long festival was quite a challenge, so this new concept gives us more scope to book the very best acts. We will continue to organise community events such as film afternoons for Age Concern and Kids Comedy so there should be something to appeal to everyone."

"We are delighted to be partnering Guernsey Comedy." said Sally Moseley, managing director of Sarnia Mutual.  As a local business we're keen to be involved with anything that engages the community and it's great to be linked with such a fun and vibrant event."

This year's three shows will begin in March with compere Geoff Whiting returning to the island to host a stand up show at Les Rocquettes Hotel. He'll be accompanied by headline act Phil Kay who has been described as "an original comedy genius who crams so much humour into his performance it's hard to breathe!"

Also on the line up is "surreal female comedian Harriet Dyer" and "highly acclaimed musical comic Mitch Benn."
