Mark Cox has been appointed the Co-operative Society's Chief Executive Officer.

Having worked for 10 months as Acting Chief Executive Officer, the Society's Board has given Mr Cox the position on a permanent basis.

"It is a real privilege to lead an amazing institution that is The Channel Islands Co-operative Society," Mr Cox. "I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with my exceptional colleagues and our board of directors to make a real difference to the communities we serve. Together, we will remain focused on being a successful co-operative maximising value for our customers, members, local partners and providing the best opportunities and experiences for our colleagues."

Paula Williams, President of the Board of Directors, said Mr Cox was a worthy successor to Colin Macleod, who left last year.

"We are delighted to announce Mark's appointment. He has more than ten years of dedicated service to the Society and following a robust appointment process, we are satisfied that he is the right person to drive the Society forward for the benefit of our members, our colleagues and the communities in which we operate. He has ensured the Society was able to navigate the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, keeping members and colleagues alike safe.

"We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Colin for his significant contribution to the Society over the last 30 years and wish him all the best.

Mr Cox first joined the Society in 2010 as Chief Operating Officer.
