Bespoke partnership laws approved in Alderney

Tuesday 23 November 2021

Bespoke partnership laws, that mirror Guernsey’s albeit with an additional provision have been approved by the States of Alderney.

The Partnership (Alderney) Law 2021 and Limited Partnerships (Alderney) Law 2021 will be similar to Guernsey’s laws but include an ‘Administrative Partner’ provision.

It should come into force next year after being seen by the Ministry of Justice and Privy Council.

The ‘Administrative Partner’ provision gives one partner responsibility for filing all data while the other partner may reside elsewhere.

“This legislation brings us up to speed with similar jurisdictions around the world but it also gives us a unique advantage with our provision for Administrative Partners,” said chairman of the Policy & Finance Committee, Bill Able.

“There are partnerships that would benefit from the Administrative Partner concept, especially those with cross-national operations or who see a future in such operations.”
