Bedell Cristin has announced the appointment of John Scanlan as a Partner within its Guernsey Financial Services team.
A Guernsey Advocate, Mr Scanlan (pictured above) trained at the London office of City-based international law firm, Simmons & Simmons, where he qualified into the Corporate Group in 2008.
He worked for the firm’s corporate team in the Middle East for several years before moving to Guernsey to take a senior position at an offshore law firm, where he subsequently completed his Guernsey Bar exams.
He has significant experience advising on corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, opened-ended and closed-ended investment funds, joint ventures and restructurings. In addition, he has expertise in corporate governance and compliance matters.
Kate Ovenden, Managing Partner at Bedell Cristin Guernsey, commented: “John can draw on both his international experience working for a leading City law firm in London and the Middle East and his well established reputation as a Guernsey based corporate lawyer.
“He strengthens the depth of our capabilities in the corporate and funds marketplace at a senior level and I am delighted to welcome him to the Partnership.”
