Balloonees to close for good

At least one shop will be missing from the Commercial Arcade when retail businesses are allowed to reopen fully as the owners of Balloonees have announced it is closing, with their efforts to be focused on a new online outlet instead.

In a statement on the shop's Facebook page, Mark and Vikki Passmore said they were "sad to say that we have made the decision to permanently close the Balloonees shop in Commercial Arcade, and we will not be re-opening once restrictions are lifted".

The party accessories and gift shop opened 16 years ago but the owners said they will now be focusing on their new online retail outlet.

"We have had an amazing 16 years of many loyal customers, and being able to provide support and donations to many local charities, individual causes, and schools and healthcare services. Balloonees will continue to trade as an online business only, providing a tailored range of local and custom made products, for a wider market through our website thebiggiftshop.com."

Existing shop stock has been donated to charities during the lockdown to help them raise money.

Many items previously sold by Balloonees will be available through The Big Gift Shop instead going forward, as an online outlet only.
