Have the events of 2020 left you stumped? Run out of patience waiting for a fun family event that’s padded up with sporting action?
Well, Guernsey FC and Guernsey Raiders have you extra-covered…
The COVID-19 pandemic has required us all to think in adaptive and resilient ways, and our island’s response has garnered international praise. In that same creative spirit, Guernsey FC defender Tom Strawbridge came up with the idea to challenge the Guernsey Raiders to a cricket match, in aid of Guernsey Mind, and the Raiders were only too happy to pick up the gauntlet.
On July 4th at Port Soif, we will, therefore, be bringing you “2020: 20-20” – a concept so nice, you’ll want to say it twice! Sporting fun with music, bar and barbecue – we’re sorting all the ingredients, except for a family crowd, and that’s where YOU come in!
From noon, as the toss is at 12:45 for a 1pm start. Come see us play, and enjoy!
Guernsey FC Director Nic Legg said, “As Phase 5 now sees no boundaries to activity within our Bailiwick Bubble, we’ll try our best to bring you some enjoyable action. We are pleased the Raiders have joined us in helping to raise money for GFC’s partner charity, Guernsey Mind”
Guernsey Raiders Vice Chairman, Andrea Harris added, “While it’s not the kind of ball either we or our opponents are used to, we’re excited at the prospect of playing sport in front of a crowd again – it’s a big part of what both our teams are all about.”
Admission to “2020: 20-20” is free but there will be collections throughout the day for Guernsey Mind, including a 50-50 raffle draw. Guernsey FC and Guernsey Raiders hope to see you at Port Soif on Saturday 4 July, from midday.
